Our approach to the care and rehabilitation of patients is a holistic one. We combine the use of technology with the skill sets and services of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists to take patients towards previously undreamt levels of physical, psychological, social and vocational well being. We do this while offering those in our care sincere kindness, understanding and an assurance of the highest levels of safety.
There are activities for everyone here at Valley House Rehabilitation Center. The types of activities vary from day to day, although certain activities occur nearly every day, such as Coffee & News at 9:30am, and the Movement Group at 10am. Other examples of activities are: music with Larry, arts & crafts, Wii games, crossword puzzles, evening movies, Happy Hour and karaoke, bingo, card games, computer learning, sewing groups, and even outdoor sports such as basketball and ping pong.
Valley House offers religious services as well. On Saturdays at 10am there is Catholic Rosary & sing-along, and on Sunday there is a Baptist church service. In addition, on Tuesday nights Al Royval leads a prayer session, and on Thursday mornings there are Buddhist visits.

Food Services at Valley House
What better topic to lead off with than one of everyone's favorite topics: FOOD! Here at Valley House Rehabilitation Center we are very proud of the healthy and tasty food that is prepared by our resident chef and his staff. Menus are approved by our on-staff dietician, and every resident's individual needs are taken into consideration.
What stands out with the food prepared at Valley House is that it is not only beneficial from a nutritional standpoint, but it is visually appealing and is amazingly tasty too. There is a balance between nutrition, appeal & taste. This is a difficult combination to find anywhere, including other hospitals or rehab centers, restaurants, or even at your own home with home-cooked meals. Hospitals tend to focus more on nutrition than appeal & taste, while many restaurants focus on appeal & taste at the expense of nutrition. However, at Valley House Rehabilitation Center, we strive towards having all three: nutrition, appeal & taste. Our viewpoint is that it is a given that we must provide foods with good nutrition, but since eating is one of the greatest pleasures in life, we also want the food to appeal to all the senses by having it look, smell & taste good too.
Maria Bellot oversees the food planning & preparation as Director of Food Services, and has been at Valley House for 9 years. In her 20 year career as a dietary supervisor, she has always worked in long-term care facilities. She finds her work personally rewarding in that she can be of help to others. Maria coordinates with the executive chef, the staff dietician and the physicians to ensure that each Valley House resident is getting the proper nutrition, and that those with special dietary needs are taken care of. For instance, some residents may be vegetarian, diabetic, or require low-cholesterol and low-fat foods, while others may need their food chopped and pureed. For these residents with special dietary concerns, their meals are tailor-made under Maria's supervision.
It is not often that you will find a chef on staff at a hospital or rehab center, but at Valley House Rehabilitation Center, we have the luxury of having a full-time executive chef on staff.
Chef Jorge Sebastiani is a native of Peru who is widely travelled and knowledgeable in a wide range of cuisines. Jorge was trained at Cordon Bleu in Paris, and has been a chef for about 20 years. Like Maria, he has a passion for his job and gets deep satisfaction from it. He specializes in homestyle cooking in a number of different types of ethnic cuisines, such as Mediterranean, Italian, French, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Mexican.
The main menus offered to Valley House residents are seasonal, with something different each day.
Welcome Socials are special dinners that are offered once a month for new patients and their families. Valley House residents can each invite up to two guests to these events. Longer term residents are also welcomed to monthly Candlelight Dinners which include their families. Recently, on October 8th, a Candlelight Dinner was held in the large Day Room. The Valley House staff decorated the room, which helped to make this a special and memorable evening.
Another recurring special event at Valley House is the
Breakfast Club, which happens once a month. Here the residents get a chance to enjoy breakfasts that one might one find at a fancy restaurant.
